ITM Ltd (Instrumentation, Testing & Monitoring) have been awarded contract C701 for the instrumentation and monitoring contract for Crossrail. The contract includes the supply & installation of automated monitoring instrumentation and monitoring of a range of existing tunnels, buildings and infrastructure including London Underground Ltd (LUL), Docklands Light Railway (DLR) and Network Rail (NR) assets throughout central London along the Crossrail route. Contract C701 is considered to be the largest single contract for geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring ever undertaken in the UK. The scope of works involves extensive monitoring of existing buildings, above and below ground structures and at street level for ground movement along the length of Crossrail's central section. The works also involve ITM providing, maintaining and managing a central database that receives data from all site instruments installed for LUL, DLR & Network Rail as part of this contract and from other locations across the whole project. The Underground Construction Information Management System (UCIMS) is designed to collate, manage and present information on the construction progress together with the instrumentation monitoring data and will be accessible by all contractors and supervisory teams. ITM will be supported throughout the project by their sister companies; Soil Instruments Ltd and Interfels GmbH, two well-established and innovative instrumentation manufacturers. The award of Crossrail C701 follows ITM's success over the last 12 months in winning significant instrumentation and monitoring contracts including the Green Park Station Upgrade for Tubelines; Victoria Station Upgrade for LUL and Blackfriars Station & Bridge construction works for Balfour Beatty. ITM Managing Director Jonathan Scott said "We are really looking forward to being involved in one of the most exciting and challenging civil engineering projects that is happening anywhere in the world. We have a challenging delivery programme but we believe that our team, working closely with Crossrail and their partners, will deliver an excellent result for Crossrail". |
