Ordnance Survey data is being used to show the progress of teams taking part in this year's WaterAid 6 Peaks Challenge.

For the first time, family, friends and supporters will be able to track the progress of the teams on Ordnance Survey's highly detailed mapping and to see how they are progressing over the weekend, making sure that they are safe and well throughout the challenge.

The WaterAid 6 Peaks Challenge is Britain's premier mountaineering endurance test, challenging teams to cover six peaks in just 72 hours and walking over 50 miles and climbing 20,000 feet.

This year organisers hope the event will raise over £200,000 for WaterAid, supporting life-changing safe water, sanitation and hygiene projects.

The Yellowbrick Tracker - sponsored by Ordnance Survey - being used by the teams will automatically update the teams' position every 10 minutes using satellites. The maps showing where the teams are will be available during the challenge for everyone to see on the Internet at http://www.wateraidsixpeakschallenge.org.uk/
