First phase of GeoDATA seminars a success

Training4GIS™, the training and consultancy division of The GeoInformation Group™, has successfully completed its first phase of GeoDATA seminars staged around the UK and Eire this year.

So far, GeoDATA 2010 has staged four out of six of its intuitive one-day events that has attracted over 400 delegates. Venues visited throughout April and May include Dublin, Cardiff, Liverpool and London. Glasgow and Belfast are planned for November for which registration is now open at www.training4gis.com.

This unique, annual seminar series, noted as a "must see for all professionals" in a post event delegate survey, gave the audience an insightful opportunity to hear from leading organisations throughout the UK and Eire including GI service providers, software developers and data suppliers. The theme, "changing times", clearly demonstrated the impact that new technology, data innovation, climate change and government policies are having on the GI industry as a whole.

Fiona Cocks, Training4GIS' Training Director and event organiser, remarked, "It is more important than ever for professionals using geographic information or services to come to GeoDATA to hear about the challenges facing our industry so that they can respond accordingly. It also gives delegates the chance to interface directly with leading GI figures to discuss their own project requirements - and all for free!"

Topics within the programme, including "Free Software, Data and Services - Is It Worth It?" through to "The Future Landscape for Geographic Information", have all received extremely positive feedback.

Delegate Paul Drury of Raven Housing Trust commented, "A great chance to network with GIS professionals and learn about emerging technologies and current best practice".

Michael Wood, Harrogate Borough Council, said, "I liked the way presenters drew from their own background and business knowledge but stepped back from plugging their own services".
